Results for Anaheim
Since taking office, Councilmember Natalie Meeks has focused on the priorities that matter to Anaheim residents: safe neighborhoods, responsible spending, solutions to homelessness, and a city that protects its quality of life while planning for the future.
From strengthening emergency services in Anaheim Hills to supporting investments in parks, housing, and infrastructure, Natalie is delivering results for our community.
Strengthening Police and Fire Protection
Keeping Anaheim safe starts with giving first responders the staffing, equipment, and resources they need.
- More firefighters serving Anaheim Hills. Supported funding to permanently station Engine 10 at Fire Station 10, with a crew of 12 firefighters to protect and serve the community.
- Increased public safety staffing. Supported her first city budget’s funding to hire 12 police officers above authorized staffing, provide additional school resource officer support, and restore or add nine firefighter positions.
- Resources to address residential break-ins. Supported additional resources to respond to neighborhood burglaries and worked with residents on crime prevention.
- Accountability for illegal fireworks. Initiated Anaheim’s ordinance adding penalties for property owners and others who allow illegal fireworks on their property.
- Protecting young people. Supported regulations prohibiting the sale of kratom and nitrous oxide to youth and co-hosted a town hall addressing the opioid and fentanyl crisis.
Preparing Anaheim Hills for Wildfires
For Anaheim Hills families, wildfire protection and safe evacuation are essential. Natalie has made both a priority.
- Put safety first on development. Made the successful motion to deny the Hills Preserve development proposal based on wildfire, evacuation, and public safety findings. Also voted against the Festival Project.
- Strengthened wildfire prevention. Supported 113 acres of brush clearing, additional Community Risk Reduction personnel, and expanded Firewise participation. Recognized and supported Camino Grande Loop residents in establishing Anaheim’s first Firewise USA community.
- Improved emergency resources. Supported additional fire personnel, cameras, drones, and continued work to move electric lines underground in wildfire areas.
- Pursued another emergency access route. Sought state and federal support for a potential secondary emergency access road for Mohler Loop.
- Helped residents prepare. Hosted a Wildfire Insurance and Emergency Preparedness Town Hall, co-hosted a wildfire preparedness fair, and promoted evacuation zones, household preparedness, and Anaheim’s “Know Your Way” resources.
- Advocated for property insurance solutions. Made the motion for Anaheim’s unanimously adopted resolution urging state action to stabilize the property insurance market.
Addressing Homelessness and Connecting People With Care
Natalie has supported early outreach, treatment, and housing assistance while backing measures to keep parks and public spaces safe.
- Connected people with shelter and housing. Pressed for proactive outreach and supported continuation of Anaheim’s Community Care Response Team, which recorded 385 street-to-shelter exits and 64 direct street-to-housing connections in fiscal year 2024–25.
- Expanded mental health crisis response. Made the motion funding Be Well OC’s mobile response program, connecting people experiencing behavioral health crises with appropriate care.
- Supported treatment and accountability. Backed the ACCESS court diversion and intensive treatment program, which had accepted 370 individuals into individualized diversion plans by June 2025.
- Supported progress toward permanent housing. Backed efforts that helped 27% of Anaheim shelter residents move into permanent housing. Anaheim’s unsheltered homeless count declined approximately 10% from 2024 to 2026, while more people were sheltered indoors.
- Protected shared public spaces. Supported regulations addressing homeless activity in parks and public areas to improve safety.
Helping Families Stay in Their Homes
- Established support for families at risk. Made the motion approving Anaheim’s Housing Trust Fund framework, helping establish a $1 million housing stability program for families facing eviction or displacement.
- Supported practical homelessness prevention. Backed up to $5,000 in one-time assistance for qualifying families to cover overdue rent or security deposits.
- Championed first-time homebuyers. Advocated for down payment assistance as part of the Housing Trust Fund.
Securing Investment and Planning Responsibly
Natalie has supported private investment that brings tangible community benefits while making public safety and fiscal responsibility central to Anaheim’s future.
- Led long-term planning. Initiated and led Anaheim’s 10-year strategic planning process, prioritizing public safety and fiscal responsibility.
- Secured community commitments through DisneylandForward. Made the successful approval motion for the project, securing commitments for at least $1.9 billion in private investment, $30 million for affordable housing, and $8 million for parks, along with major infrastructure funding and reimbursement of project-related police and fire costs.
- Supported additional benefits through OCVibe. Seconded the 2024 update to the privately financed $4 billion project, adding housing, expanded park space, and a $1 million fire station commitment.
- Advanced OC River Walk. Helped move the regional project toward implementation through environmental approval, a water district partnership, a $7 million bridge grant, and a fully grant-funded first park phase.
Improving Everyday Life in Our Neighborhoods
- Promoted local businesses. Initiated and co-sponsored the first Anaheim Hills Restaurant Week to showcase neighborhood restaurants.
- Addressed traffic safety. Supported lower speeds on arterial roads and striping and signal modifications on Serrano to address speeding. Co-hosted neighborhood traffic safety meetings.
